Consequences of the attack
Energy and water supply
After the first drone strike on Kyiv, local channels reported power outages. Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko confirmed that as a result of the massive Russian attack, there could be disruptions not only to electricity but also to the water supply in the capital.
Kyiv City Military Administration head Timur Tkachenko noted that no shutdowns had occurred due to the military threat so far. However, he acknowledged that the enemy could target critical civilian infrastructure, which indeed happened.
Specifically, following ballistic missile strikes, the left bank of Kyiv experienced a total blackout. Authorities later confirmed the situation, noting that the water supply was also affected.
"As a result of strikes on critical infrastructure, the city’s left bank is currently without power. There are also issues with water supply," Klitschko clarified at 4:00 a.m. Kyiv time.
Tkachenko confirmed the same information. At the same time, power outages were reported on the right bank as well, according to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent and local Telegram channels.
Restoration work has already begun.
