Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS) specialists and medics continue to assist people affected by Russia's overnight ballistic attack on the capital. Unfortunately, the death toll has risen.

As of the morning, eight people have been killed in Kyiv following the Russian strike, according to updated information from Mayor Vitali Klitschko at 7:40 a.m. Another 33 people have suffered injuries of varying severity.

Rescuers said they had managed to pull two more people alive from beneath the rubble.

Fire crews continue battling blazes in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Darnytskyi districts.

DSNS units and all relevant emergency services are working at the scenes.

Earlier, DSNS released the first photos showing the aftermath of the overnight attack. Rescuers reported strikes, destruction, and fires in three districts of the capital.

A children's hospital and residential buildings were damaged in the massive attack.

Russian forces also struck the Kyiv region. A man was killed in Brovary, while the city’s community was left without electricity.

Several districts of Kyiv are also experiencing power outages. Energy workers are currently working to determine the cause.
