Kyiv hit overnight as first images reveal scale of destruction

In Kyiv, efforts to rescue those affected by tonight's Russian attack on the capital are ongoing. Numerous fires and destruction have been recorded in the city, reports the State Emergency Service.
It is already known that as a result of the latest massive attack, five people have died, and another 23 have been injured. Rescuers recorded strikes, destruction, and fires in three districts of the capital: Sviatoshynskyi, Darnytskyi, and Solomianskyi.
Sviatoshynskyi district
A missile struck the territory of one of the industrial facilities. Rescuers have contained fires in two warehouse buildings covering 500 and 1,000 square meters, and at another address, in another warehouse building of 500 square meters.
One person was found dead at the scene. Rescuers are currently freeing another person from under the rubble.

Solomianskyi district
In a nine-story residential building, the 8th and 9th floors were destroyed, with fire engulfing the 7th through 9th floors.
At other addresses, windows were blown out in residential buildings and a medical facility, and cars, garages, and a store caught fire. The fire in the garages has already been extinguished. At another address, windows were blown out in a medical facility, and a fire broke out in an auxiliary room and a vehicle — that fire has also been extinguished.
People remain trapped in two residential buildings and a school shelter in this district.
Darnytskyi district
The strike hit a non-residential facility. A fire broke out in warehouse premises and vehicles covering an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. Rescuers saved one person and handed them over to medics.
State Emergency Service units and all relevant emergency services continue to operate at the scene. The exact number of casualties and the extent of the damage may be updated.
What else is known about the attack on Kyiv
Russia attacked the capital of Ukraine with ballistic missiles. As a result of the massive strike, a children's hospital and residential buildings were damaged.
Russian units also struck the Kyiv region. In Brovary, a man was killed, and the community was left without electricity.
Several districts of the capital are also without power. Energy workers are already investigating the causes.
