Rescuers during a search operation in Kyiv recovered five more bodies from under the rubble following the strike carried out by Russia on June 17, according to a report from the State Emergency Service.

According to the State Emergency Service, search operations at the site of the Russian strike in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district continued nonstop throughout the night.

“As of 7:00 a.m. Kyiv time, rescuers have recovered the bodies of five more victims from under the rubble of a partially destroyed nine-story building. In total, 16 bodies have been retrieved from this address,” the rescuers reported.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing. According to the latest data, a total of 21 people have died in the Ukrainian capital as a result of the strike, and 134 have been injured.

Nighttime Russian attack on Kyiv – June 17

Russia launched a massive assault on Ukraine, deploying around 500 strike drones and dozens of missiles.

Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district suffered the heaviest damage. An X-101 missile hit a nine-story residential building, completely destroying one entrance. Other districts hit included Darnytskyi, Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi.

The UN mission stated this attack could be the deadliest on Kyiv in the past year.
