The report notes that at least 14 people were killed in the Russian strike (according to the latest figures from Ukraine's Interior Ministry, 10 deaths have been confirmed). Another 114 people were injured.
The UN mission emphasized that its team of experts is working to verify the number of civilian fatalities and assess the full extent of the damage.
"This latest attack comes as Russian armed forces have in recent weeks intensified nightly strikes with long-range weapons across the country, ‘swarming’ cities with hundreds of drones and missiles," the statement said.
The UN noted that Kyiv had not suffered this level of civilian casualties since July 8, 2024, when 32 people were killed and another 85 were injured.
"Ukrainian authorities have reported that at least 3,340 long-range drones (loitering munitions and decoy drones) and 135 missiles were launched into Ukraine during the first 17 days of June. Last night’s attack was the fourth time this month that Russian armed forces launched more than 400 munitions in a single night. By comparison, Russian armed forces launched 544 long-range munitions during the entire month in June 2024," the UN mission added.
Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv
On the night of June 17, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying nearly 500 attack drones and dozens of missiles.
A 9-story building's entire entranceway collapsed as a result of a Kh-101 missile hit in the Solomianskyi district. A fire also broke out in a nearby five-story building.
Additional damage was recorded in the Darnytskyi, Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts. In total, 27 locations across the capital came under enemy fire that night.
Initial reports indicated 14 people were killed in Kyiv. That number later rose to 15, but according to the latest official update, the confirmed death toll from the attack stands at 10.
