Russian jet-powered drone strikes high-rise in central Chernihiv

On Monday, August 24, Russian forces struck Chernihiv with a drone, hitting a high-rise apartment building in the city center, according to Chernihiv Military Administration chief Dmytro Bryzhynskyi and the Chernihiv City Council.
"An enemy drone strike was recorded in the central part of the city. Information is being clarified," the city council said.
Bryzhynskyi said the Russian drone hit a high-rise residential building. The strike sparked a fire.
The MVA chief added that information about possible casualties was still being clarified.
"Rescuers are working at the site of the strike, putting out the fire. Medics are providing everyone with the necessary assistance. All services are at the scene. The consequences are being assessed," Chernihiv Regional Military Administration chief Vyacheslav Chaus said.

Bryzhynskyi reported that 14 people were injured in the enemy attack, including two children aged 12 and 17. Three people were hospitalized, while 11 others sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that the number of people injured in the Chernihiv attack has risen to 15, including two children. Firefighters have completely extinguished the blaze.
On August 17, Russia struck an energy facility in Chernihiv, leaving more than 10,000 subscribers without electricity.
Earlier, it was reported that Russian forces had begun carrying out large-scale strikes on Chernihiv region with jet-powered drones. In particular, the region came under heavy attack by "Banderoль" drones in early August, a hybrid of a cruise missile and a drone.
