Dmitry Peskov, an ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, has mocked Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda's warning about possible Russian aggression, according to Russian media.

Peskov mocks the Baltic states

Peskov dismissed Lithuania's fears regarding potential Russian attacks on Baltic infrastructure, calling them "another dose of scare stories."

The Kremlin spokesman also lashed out at Latvia, accusing it of a "policy of hatred toward everything Russian," claiming this is constantly happening in Latvia and is unacceptable to Russia.

"The Baltic states are scaring their populations with the 'Russian threat' to bring more NATO infrastructure into the region," Peskov claimed.

War in Ukraine

Peskov also commented on Russia's war against Ukraine in the context of US mediation efforts.

"Through diplomatic channels, the Kremlin has received signals that the United States is ready to continue working on the Ukraine track after resolving the situation around Iran," he said.

He also described the situation in the Persian Gulf as being in a phase of deterioration.

Earlier, Nausėda said Lithuania has intelligence indicating that Russia is preparing new aggressive actions. According to him, Putin still wants to test NATO's unity.

At the beginning of July, Peskov claimed that Russia's so-called "special military operation" had initially been planned as a military operation but had since turned into a full-scale war because of Western involvement.

Peskov also said Russia is considering US President Donald Trump's remarks about the possibility of closing Ukraine's skies, adding that he had not yet heard anything concrete on the matter.
