Russian authorities are considering US President Donald Trump's statement about the potential closure of the skies over Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov added that it has not previously heard anything like this from the White House chief, according to the Kremlin. News.

Peskov confirmed that Trump did not call Vladimir Putin on July 8, despite publicly promising to do so.

The Kremlin concluded that the US president had other matters to attend to.

"Trump was apparently busy yesterday and did not call Putin, but the Russian president is always happy to speak with him," Peskov said.

He added that Moscow does not view Trump's remarks about strikes by Kyiv deep inside Russian territory as an escalation, but rather as "misconceptions held by the US leadership."

Peskov also commented on Trump's statements about the potential closure of the skies over Ukraine. Putin's spokesman said this was the first time Trump had spoken about such an idea.

"There have been no such statements before. No one has previously discussed closing the skies. In any case, this would mean that the armed forces of a NATO country would operate on Ukrainian territory. This is exactly what the 'special military operation' is being carried out against (the term Russia uses for its war against Ukraine - ed.). This is important to understand. This still needs to be thought through. It is necessary to understand how well this issue has been developed and between whom it has been worked out," Peskov said.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Trump had promised to grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot systems.

He also praised the powerful strikes carried out by Ukraine's Armed Forces against Russia, saying he believes they will help bring peace back to Ukraine.

Trump also named his favorite soldier in Ukraine.
