The Kremlin has stated that Russia and the United States are approaching a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, RIA Novosti reports.

Assistant to the Russian President, Yuri Ushakov, emphasized that "movement in this direction" is already taking place.

In response to a question from the journalist of Rossiya1, Pavel Zarubin, about whether Russia and the USA are moving toward a bilateral meeting between the leaders of the two countries, Ushakov answered affirmatively.

"I think we are moving forward," Ushakov said.

Recently, the Kremlin stated the need for a meeting between Putin and Trump.

In March of this year, it became known that Trump had his first phone conversation with Putin. They discussed a ceasefire at all energy and infrastructure sites in Ukraine.

The Le Point media outlet also wrote that US President Donald Trump might supposedly visit Moscow on May 9 to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, later, Trump, responding to such rumors, stated that he would not be going to Moscow on May 9.

At the same time, Trump has already mentioned several times his intentions to visit Saudi Arabia. It was recently announced that he will visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE from May 13 to 16.
