Kremlin declares end of energy ceasefire — Zelenskyy’s Office responds

Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced that the moratorium on strikes on the energy sector has expired. However, Ukraine does not perceive his words as significant signals, said Ukrainian President's Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn to journalists.
Peskov earlier claimed that the moratorium on energy strikes has expired. In response, Lytvyn said Peskov’s comments carry little weight.
"I don't know since when Peskov's statements have meant anything to anyone. We consider March 25, when the White House issued official statements, as the starting point of the agreement with the American side," Lytvyn explained.
He also noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned yesterday about the potential threat of Russian strikes on energy facilities on the eve of Easter or after it.
Russia had counted a 30-day energy ceasefire starting from March 18, but continued attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure during that period.
Russia is preparing new strikes for Easter
On April 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine may face new Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure before or after Easter.
According to Zelenskyy, intelligence reports indicate that Russia is preparing new strikes.
More details on the President’s statements can be found in the material RBC-Ukraine.
The energy ceasefire
Earlier this year, with US mediation, Ukraine and Russia agreed to halt strikes on energy and port infrastructure. The so-called ceasefire officially took effect on March 25.
However, shortly afterward, Russia violated the agreement by launching attacks on Ukraine’s power system.
Just yesterday, Russian forces once again damaged a DTEK energy facility, this time in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Despite never stopping its attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector, Russia fabricated fakes about Ukrainian strikes on its infrastructure.
President Zelenskyy said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent fake reports to the US claiming Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy sites.
