Kremlin comments on US threat to leave peace negotiations

Russia sees “progress” in peace talks to resolve the war in Ukraine, but contacts are “quite difficult,” the spokesman of the Russian dictator Dmitry Peskov stated.
Peskov explained, the progress in resolving the war is due to the fact that the terrorist country Russia allegedly observed a moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure.
“There are certain developments, but there are many difficult discussions ahead,” he added.
Commenting on the fact that Russia, as stated in the United States, should submit proposals to end the war in Ukraine by the end of the week, Peskov said that contacts are “quite difficult.” At the same time, he added that Moscow allegedly wants to resolve the “conflict,” but by securing its own interests.
Peace talks to end the war in Ukraine
In recent months, the United States has held a series of separate talks with Ukrainian and Russian representatives in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. During one of the meetings, Washington proposed a complete ceasefire. Kyiv, in turn, supported this step, but Russia began to put forward its own conditions.
Eventually, with the mediation of the United States, Ukraine and Russia agreed to stop strikes on energy and port infrastructure. The “truce” came into force on March 25, but the terrorist country has been constantly violating it.
Today, on April 18, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington would stop trying to mediate a peace deal unless there are clear signs that an agreement can be reached.
