Match details

In a duet with the Romanian Ruse, the Ukrainian lost in two sets to Kudermetova / Mertens, who are seeded fourth in the tournament. The match lasted 1 hour and 21 minutes.

Kostyuk took to the court for the second time in one day, just a few hours after her nearly three-hour singles match against Karolina Muchova.

In the first set, Kostyuk and Ruse led 4–3 with a break, but won only one more game until the end of the match. Overall, the Ukrainian and her partner made six double faults, converted one break, but lost four of their own serves.

Thus, Kostyuk leaves the tournament in New York completely.

Historic tournament for Kostyuk

Reaching the third round of the US Open in doubles became the fourth such achievement in Kostyuk's career. However, she has never managed to get past this stage.

At the same time, this year's participation in the tournament was historic for her: Marta became the first Ukrainian to reach the round of 16 in both singles and doubles at a Grand Slam tournament.

How Marta played at US Open 2025

In singles, Kostyuk defeated Britain's Katie Boulter, Turkey's Zeynep Sonmez, and, in the third round, confidently overcame France's Diane Parry. Thus, she reached the fourth round of the US Open for the first time in her career.

At the same time, the Ukrainian also took part in doubles, where she teamed up with Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

In the opening match, the duo confidently defeated the Spanish-Italian pair of Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. And in the round of 32, Kostyuk and Ruse knocked out the 14th seeds, Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia and Germany's Laura Siegemund.
