Kim Jong-un supports Russia's 'self-defense' after strikes on its territory
North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has stated that Ukraine's use of long-range weapons is allegedly the result of direct military intervention by the United States, and that Russia has the right to "self-defense," according to Reuters.
On Friday, November 29, Kim Jong-un met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and stated that the United States and the West allegedly forced the Kyiv government to attack Russian territory using long-range strike weapons. He emphasized that Russia must take steps to make "hostile forces pay the price."
"The DPRK government, army and people will invariably support the policy of the Russian Federation to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity from the imperialists' moves for hegemony," the dictator said.
Additionally, Kim Jong-un promised to expand ties with Russia in all areas, including military matters, as part of the comprehensive strategic partnership he signed with Russian President Vladimir Putin in June, which includes a mutual defense agreement.
Russia-North Korea cooperation
Relations between Moscow and Pyongyang have significantly advanced after their leaders held a summit in Russia in September of last year. Since then, North Korea has sent more than 10,000 containers of ammunition, as well as self-propelled howitzers and multiple launch rocket systems.
South Korea's intelligence agency reported that North Korea sent over 10,000 soldiers to Russia, deploying them to the frontlines, including the Kursk region, where the occupiers are trying to push Ukrainian forces out.
Earlier, the United States allowed Ukraine to use long-range weapons for strikes on Russia. In response, Russia has launched several large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, claiming these are retaliatory actions against the use of medium-range missiles by the US.
