The US Special Presidential Envoy, Keith Kellogg, has been effectively removed from the negotiation process regarding the resolution of the Russia-Ukraine war. He was not present at the US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia, according to Politico.

Kellogg is known as a strong critic of Russia who understands the risks of negotiating with the Kremlin and the dangers of an unfavorable deal. Representatives of US President Donald Trump’s administration claim that Kellogg has been effectively sidelined from the negotiations.

The key figures now leading negotiations with Ukrainians and Russians are Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

This was confirmed by today’s talks in Saudi Arabia, in which Kellogg did not participate.

The White House denies these claims. White House national security spokesperson James Hewitt emphasized that Kellogg remains a key figure, especially in negotiations with European allies.

At the same time, the White House asserts that the negotiations are being led by Rubio and Waltz, who remain strong critics of Russia and have Trump's full trust.

A source close to Kellogg told Politico that the general maintains direct contact with the president and that he works solely for him. Moreover, he has the best relationship with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It should be recalled that yesterday, negotiations took place in Saudi Arabia between US and Ukrainian delegations, during which Kyiv expressed its willingness for a 30-day full ceasefire. A similar step is now expected from Russia.

Brussels supports the joint statement by Ukraine and the US, which includes a ceasefire agreement, humanitarian initiatives, and the resumption of intelligence-sharing and security assistance.

The EU emphasized its readiness to cooperate with Ukraine, the US, and other partners to promote a just and lasting peace based on international law.
