The balance of power in the war between Ukraine and Russia is gradually shifting. In the United States, officials believe that recent developments on the front line, for the first time in a long period, indicate Ukraine’s advantage, according to TVP World.
Former US Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that Kyiv’s successful long-range strikes on Russia’s oil infrastructure, which have led to fuel shortages, including in occupied Crimea, are changing the course of the war.
"For the first time since 2023, you see the Ukrainians really start to develop an advantage over the Russians," he stressed.
Kellogg added that if he had to make a forecast about the course of the war today, he would bet on Ukraine.
"I would put money on the Ukrainians today, less money on the Russians," he said.
According to Kellogg, the changing battlefield situation could also influence the position of US President Donald Trump.
"President Trump likes winners," he concluded.
As a reminder, fuel problems in Russia have escalated to the point where the country, which for years exported gasoline, is now seeking supplies from its neighbors. Following Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries, Moscow is holding talks with Kazakhstan on fuel imports, although Astana is only willing to negotiate on its own terms.
In addition, to mitigate the effects of the fuel shortage, Russia has begun importing gasoline by sea from India.
Despite this, gasoline prices in Russia have recorded their sharpest increase in 20 years.
