Kansas City shooting: Injuries and fatalities reported
Unknown assailants opened fire near a railway station in Kansas City, Missouri, during the celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory, causing panic among attending fans, reports Reuters.
According to the police, a series of shots were fired on the street near a parking garage at the end of a gathering following the victory parade.
In a video posted on social media, dozens of uniformed police officers with weapons in hand are seen running towards the station building, while scores of pedestrians flee in the opposite direction.

According to police information, one person died as a result of the incident, and between 10 to 15 individuals were injured. All present players, coaches, and staff of the Kansas City Chiefs team have been located and placed in a safe location.

A representative from Children's Mercy Kansas City Hospital reported that around a dozen participants from the gathering sought medical attention, nine of whom sustained gunshot wounds. At least five injured individuals were transported to the university hospital.

"We are deeply saddened by the senseless shooting that occurred in Kansas City today following the Chiefs’ celebration. Our thoughts are with the victims and everyone affected," said the statement from the National Football League.
Union Station, a 109-year-old boho-art-style building that once served as the main railway hub in the U.S. for passenger and freight transport, is now home to a museum and landmarks, as well as an Amtrak passenger transport terminal.
On Sunday, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in overtime against the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 25:22.
The source recalled the infamous incident on June 17, 1933, known as the Kansas City Massacre at Union Station. At that time, a street shootout occurred, resulting in the deaths of four law enforcement officers and an escaping criminal.
