New York subway shooting: Several people injured, one fatality reported
In the New York City subway, an unidentified individual opened fire. As a result, one person was killed and five others were injured, according to Reuters.
The New York City Police Department reported that there is no information regarding the condition of the five injured individuals. Local media outlets have stated that the injuries are not life-threatening.
Additionally, the police stated that no one had been arrested.
Mayor of New York Eric Adams has sought to reassure unnerved commuters by increasing the number of police officers in subway stations.
The New York Post reports the death of a teenager. Five other individuals aged 12 to 71 were also injured. According to the newspaper, witnesses heard over 10 shots.
