A just peace cannot be achieved without the participation of Ukraine and Europe, and no agreement can be reached behind Ukraine’s back, stated US Senator Michael Bennet during a visit to Kyiv, according to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent.

He noted that he was speaking for himself but also believed that the majority of members in the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as the American people, shared this view. Bennet stated that a just peace could not be achieved without Ukraine’s participation and leadership, nor without Europe’s involvement.

The senator emphasized that he did not believe an agreement could be reached behind Ukraine’s back.

Peace negotiations

US President Donald Trump has assured that Ukraine will participate in negotiations with Russia to end the war.

Meanwhile, US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg stated that he does not see Europe at the negotiating table regarding Ukraine. However, he emphasized that the interests of European countries would be taken into account.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, stressed that Europe must take part in the negotiations to end the war because Ukraine needs fair partners.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also supported Europe’s participation in the talks, saying that Europe "has to fight its way to the table."
