Russia launched a combined strike on Kyiv on the night of July 31 with missiles and drones. Numerous buildings in the city were damaged, the entrance to a high-rise building was destroyed, and dozens of people were injured and killed.

On the night of July 31, air raid sirens were on 3 times in Kyiv. The first time was on the evening of July 30, lasting over 4 hours and linked to a Russian drone attack.

Repeated air raid alerts were declared in the early morning due to the threat of Russian ballistic missiles. It was then that the Russians launched a missile strike on Kyiv.

The Solomianskyi district of the city was most affected by the Russian drone attack. Debris fell on houses, non-residential premises, cars, and one of the higher education institutions.

Consequences of the Russian combined attack on Kyiv:

  • In the Sviatoshynskyi district, the entrance to a residential building was destroyed. There were also fires in several non-residential buildings.
  • In the Solomianskyi district, apartments in several buildings were damaged. Cars were on fire. There were also fires and damage at several non-residential locations.
  • In the Holosiivskyi district, buildings were damaged. In particular, schools and a kindergarten.
  • In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the shock wave knocked out windows in the children's ward of a medical facility.

In total, the consequences of the Russian combined attack were recorded in more than 27 locations in Kyiv.

Killed and wounded

As of 6:30 a.m. Kyiv time, one was killed in Kyiv. According to local authorities, there are 27 wounded in the capital, including police officers.

"As of 6:30 a.m., there is one killed and over 20 injured in Kyiv. Among the injured are three police officers who were responding to a call. Two injured people were rescued from under the rubble," says Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

As of 7:05 a.m., the number of wounded in Kyiv had risen to 48, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. 29 of them were hospitalized.

In addition, another fatality was reported. This brings the death toll to 2.

As of 7:15 a.m., the Russian strike on Kyiv has left 52 people wounded, with nearly 30 in hospitals. 9 children are among the victims. The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration noted that the number of wounded is expected to continue rising.

As of 7:45 a.m., there are already 6 killed in Kyiv. 4 of them are in the Sviatoshinskyi district, 2 in the Solomiansky district. Among the killed is a 6-year-old boy, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.

The rescue operation continues.

As of 8:15 a.m., among those wounded in Kyiv as a result of the night attack are police officers

According to the National Police of Ukraine, three police officers who were responding to a call were injured. They have been hospitalized.

Law enforcement officials add that damage to residential infrastructure has been reported in 4 districts of the city: Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi. Residential buildings, educational institutions, bus stops, and cars have been damaged. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, the entrance to a residential building has been destroyed.

At 8:49, it became known that Russia had damaged the railway infrastructure in one of Kyiv's districts overnight

According to Ukrainian Railways, traffic on this section is temporarily being carried out by diesel locomotives. No employees or passengers were injured. Full traffic on the section is expected to resume at around 9 a.m.

Long-distance trains are running on schedule. However, there may be minor deviations from the schedule of Kyiv City Express trains in the direction from Sviatoshyn to Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station.

As of 8:55 a.m., in the Sviatoshinskyi district, rescuers are saving a man who was trapped after a direct Russian rocket strike on a high-rise building.

This was reported by Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko to journalists, according to Radio Svoboda.

According to him, the man's head has already been freed, he is conscious, they are communicating with him, and giving him water. The victim is in a so-called concrete vault, and rescuers are cutting a tunnel in the slabs to reach him.
