Israeli forces eliminate new commander of one of Hamas battalions
Israeli forces eliminated the new commander of the Hamas Shejaiya battalion, Emad Krikae. The previous commander of the Hamas battalion was also killed by the IDF earlier during the war, citing the IDF's announcement.
Military sources noted that since 2019, Emad Krikae held the position of deputy commander of the Shejaiya battalion within Hamas. Previously, he was responsible for the preparation of anti-tank rockets in the Gaza brigade.
Krikae also participated in firing anti-tank rockets and terrorist raids carried out on Israeli territory.
After the commander of the Shejaiya battalion within Hamas was eliminated during the war, Krikae temporarily assumed the position of battalion commander, after which he was also killed by the IDF.
Israel-Hamas war
Hamas militants invaded Israel on October 7, initiating attacks on both military and civilian individuals. Soon after, Jerusalem announced Operation Iron Swords and targeted terrorist locations in the Gaza Strip.
On November 24, a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas commenced for the release of prisoners. The parties agreed to a four-day ceasefire, which was later extended for an additional two days on the condition that the militants release more hostages.
On December 1, Israel resumed military operations in the Gaza Strip, with the IDF stating that Hamas had violated the terms of the ceasefire.
According to the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, Israel resumed fire after Hamas refused to release hostages, including two children.
