The Israeli Air Force struck ten launch sites of the Hezbollah group located in southern Lebanon. These sites were used by militants to fire into Israeli territory, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The Israeli military's statement indicated that the ten Hezbollah launch sites targeted in the airstrikes posed a threat to Israeli civilians. They were located in the areas of Zibqin and Chihine in southern Lebanon.

"Additionally, Hezbollah observation posts in the area of Houla in southern Lebanon were struck," the IDF reported.

The Israel Defense Forces also detailed an attack by militants and the interception of projectiles by air defense systems.

"As a result of the strikes, several projectiles were fired from the launchers toward Israeli territory that were identified crossing from Lebanon toward the area of Arab al-Aramshe," the statement said.

The IDF added that several projectiles were intercepted by air defense systems, while others landed in open areas.

There have been no reports of casualties.

Shelling from Lebanon and Israeli strikes

Exchanges of fire between Israel and Lebanon, where the Iran-supported Islamist group Hezbollah operates, are not uncommon. However, recent strikes have significantly increased, exacerbating tensions amid rising regional unrest in the Middle East.

On July 27, Hezbollah targeted a stadium in the Golan Heights, resulting in the deaths of over ten children and injuries to more than 30 individuals.

Israel has vowed that Hezbollah's attack will not go unanswered and has warned Lebanon of a potentially devastating war.

Additionally, on August 20, the Israeli army struck Lebanese group facilities in the Bekaa Valley. More recently, Israeli forces targeted Hezbollah sites in the areas of Maroun al-Ras and Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.

On August 25, Hezbollah militants from Lebanon fired hundreds of rockets and drones into Israel. The IDF responded with strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

The US has expressed concern that this conflict could escalate into a regional war in the Middle East.
