Israel threatens 'devastating' war to Lebanon and outlines conditions for avoiding it
Israel has warned Lebanon of the threat of a "devastating war" following the shelling of a stadium in the Golan Heights. Israel stated that the condition to avoid war is the disarmament and withdrawal of Hezbollah forces, according the spokesperson of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oren Marmorstein.
He emphasized that the Hezbollah group was responsible for yesterday's shelling of the stadium in the Golan Heights in northern Israel. The spokesperson added that the missile that hit the stadium was Iranian.
"Saturday’s massacre constitutes the crossing of all red lines by Hezbollah. This is not an army fighting another army; rather, it is a terrorist organization deliberately shooting at civilians," the MFA representative noted.
Marmorstein stated that "Israel will exercise its right and duty to act in self-defense and will respond to the shelling."
He called for full responsibility to be placed on Iran and the groups it supports—Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis—and to recognize the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization and impose sanctions.
"The only way that the world can prevent a full scale war which would be devastating also to Lebanon is by forcing Hezbollah to implement Security Council Resolution 1701. Now is the very last minute to do so diplomatically," the statement reads.
