US President Donald Trump said that Iran has agreed to most of the 15 points in the plan that Washington delivered through Pakistan to end the war, reports CNN.
When asked whether Iran had responded to the points, the US leader said:
“They gave us most of the points. Why wouldn’t they? They’re agreeing with us on the plan. We asked for 15 things, and for the most part, we’re going to be asking for a couple of other things,” Trump stated.
He also said that Iran had provided oil to the United States, which would be shipped as early as Monday to “prove the seriousness of its intentions.”
“And just to prove that they’re serious, they gave us all these boats. When I talked about four days ago a present, I said they gave me a present, but I didn’t think I was at liberty to say what it was. What it was was eight plus two. It’s 10 massive boatloads of oil. And today they gave us another present. They gave us 20 boatloads of oil that starts being shipped tomorrow,” he said.
Trump added that the US and Iran are holding both direct and indirect talks, which he believes are yielding many very important results.
Two regional sources told CNN that the 15-point package proposed by the Trump administration includes restrictions on Iran’s defense capabilities, ending support for proxy forces, and recognition of Israel’s right to exist. Earlier, Trump told CNN that Tehran had committed not to possess nuclear weapons.
Peace talks
Earlier, Iran had criticized the US 15-point peace plan and put forward its own demands, although the White House denied that Tehran had rejected the proposal.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said it is ready to host a meeting between the US and Iran for peace talks, which could take place in the coming days.
Prior to that, US Vice President JD Vance stated that the operation against Iran would not last much longer, explaining that its purpose is to neutralize Tehran so that the US does not have to revisit the issue for a long time.
