iOS 19 will add feature that solves major problem for older iPhones

Apple's next major mobile operating system update, iOS 19, is expected to introduce an intelligent energy-saving feature powered by artificial intelligence, reports The Verge.
What the new feature does
According to leaks, AI algorithms will analyze battery usage patterns and predict when to reduce power consumption for specific apps or system functions. This will help extend battery life without the need for constant recharging.
Essentially, the iPhone will gain a version of Android’s Adaptive Battery feature, which Google launched in 2018. That system uses machine learning to limit background activity of less frequently used apps while giving priority to those used more often. Users can manually control this in settings.
New battery indicator
iOS 19 will also include a new indicator on the lock screen that shows how much time remains until the phone is fully charged. This addition is designed to boost both energy efficiency and user convenience.
Who will get the feature
Although the AI-based battery management system will be introduced alongside the iPhone 17, Bloomberg reports it will also be available on all devices that update to iOS 19. Rumors suggest the iPhone 17 may become the thinnest iPhone ever, which would also mean a smaller battery. This makes power-saving features more important than ever.
When to expect the release
Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 in June at the annual WWDC 2025 developers’ conference. The full public release will follow in the fall, likely in September.
