Apple adds three features in iOS 19 to make life easier

Apple’s major iOS 19 presentation is just around the corner. Next month, the company will unveil the new version of the iPhone system, packed with many updates. 9to5Mac reports on three new iOS 19 features that are rumored to be announced.
Major redesign
This is the main highlight of the update. According to rumors, Apple is preparing the biggest redesign of iOS in recent years, with more changes than since iOS 7.
The new iOS 19 design is expected to pursue three main goals:
- Make the interface easier to use
- Speed up navigation
- Make the system easier to learn
Leaks suggest that Apple will try to preserve familiarity while also making the interface fresh and simplified.
For example, apps with tabs may now feature "floating" navigation above content and include a search bar. This won’t be a complete rewrite like iOS 18 was for the Photos app, but the design will still receive significant visual and functional updates.

New third-party AI integrations
Last year, when Apple Intelligence was launched, the company implemented a dual approach.
Most AI features are built and run on Apple’s own LLMs (large language models). However, the system also integrated ChatGPT into Siri and its text generation tools.
Reports say this same approach will continue in iOS 19, with Apple possibly offering several new third-party AI models for users to choose from. One of them is likely to be Google Gemini.
While iOS 19 will include new native AI features, expanding third-party model options should give users more capabilities than Apple’s internal solutions alone.
Stage Manager mode for external displays
The iPhone keeps getting more powerful, but iOS limitations don’t always let users unlock its full potential. However, rumors suggest that iOS 19 will include a major update for multitasking, at least in specific contexts.
iOS 19 is expected to offer a new interface similar to Stage Manager when an iPhone is connected to an external display. This will allow users to run multiple iPhone apps at once.
While this may seem like a niche use case, there are two reasons why it makes sense:
- iPadOS 19 will also get major Stage Manager improvements
- The upcoming iPhone Fold requires full multitasking support
By adding this new Stage Manager interface in iOS 19, Apple will be able to collect user feedback and make adjustments next year before launching the iPhone Fold.
