During the nighttime attack on Kyiv, patrol officers responded quickly. They evacuated people and assisted those injured. Video footage from the scene shows the scale of the destruction and the work of law enforcement, informs First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, Oleksii Biloshytskyi.

Biloshytskyi shared a video from body cameras worn by officers. The footage captures what was happening in the first minutes after the attack on the Ukrainian capital began.

"The first minutes after the shelling of Kyiv: deadly drones and missiles continue to fly over the night city — patrol officers are providing assistance to the injured in the Dniprovskyi, Obolonskyi, and Solomianskyi districts of the capital," he explained.

According to him, law enforcement officers and rescuers quickly arrived at the scene. The inspectors:

  • evacuated people to safe locations;
  • provided necessary aid;
  • ensured unimpeded access for emergency vehicles.

"As a result of the attack, residential buildings and cars were destroyed. Unfortunately, there are injured people. We urge not to ignore safety rules during enemy shelling and to stay in shelters," Biloshytskyi concluded.

Russian attack on Kyiv

On the evening of May 23, Ukrainian forces detected enemy drones heading toward the capital. Shaheds were first spotted in the airspace over the Kyiv region. Later, explosions were heard across Kyiv and nearby areas.

The night attack on May 24 was one of the largest in recent months. Russia launched ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones simultaneously against the Kyiv region.

According to the Air Forces of Ukraine, Russia launched 14 Iskander-M missiles and more than 250 strike drones.

The attack caused damage to civilian infrastructure in the capital. Residential buildings, schools, and a medical facility were all hit.
