India maintains friendly relations with Ukraine and Russia and hopes to help the countries “resolve their conflict”, according to Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The Indian Foreign Minister is convinced that "the solution will not emerge from the battlefield", so world leaders should facilitate early peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

According to him, India should be more active in matters related to the Russia-Ukraine war, as "there aren't many countries who are actually talking to both Russia and Ukraine".

Visit of Indian Prime Minister to Russia and possible trip to Ukraine

Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

This happened on the same day when Russian military forces shelled the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv. Following this, Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a statement, calling Modi's visit to Russia a "devastating blow to peace efforts."

Recently, information emerged in the media that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ukraine in August. The visit is expected to take place in the second half of the month, most likely on August 23.

This would be the first visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced today that preparations for the Indian Prime Minister's visit are underway, but did not provide details. It is still unknown whether the visit will take place in August.
