IDF reveals targets of recent strikes on Hezbollah sites in Beirut
Israeli forces launched a new series of strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on November 23. The strikes hit areas in Dahieh, a key Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut, according to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Israel's military stated the strikes were based on intelligence data.
According to the IDF, the targets included several Hezbollah command centers and additional militant infrastructure.
"Hezbollah deliberately embedded its infrastructure in these civilian areas, using the Lebanese civilian population as a human shield." Israeli officials emphasized.
The IDF also reported that, over the past week, Israeli forces struck dozens of Hezbollah command centers, weapons depots, and terrorist infrastructure in Beirut's Dahieh district.
The Israeli military noted that numerous precautions were taken to minimize harm to civilians, including:
- gathering intelligence in advance;
- using aerial surveillance;
- issuing early warnings to residents in the area.
“The strikes were directed toward Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure and are part of the IDF's ongoing efforts to degrade Hezbollah's capability to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel and to dismantle the weapons production and storage facilities that Hezbollah established over the years in the Dahieh area,” the IDF explained.
Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah
Following last year's large-scale Hamas invasion from Gaza into southern Israel, Hezbollah intensified its attacks on northern Israeli territory.
In response to the growing conflict, the IDF launched a military operation in southern Lebanon aimed at pushing Hezbollah militants further from Israel’s northern borders.
A few days ago, Hezbollah launched rockets at Tel Aviv from Lebanon, causing civilian injuries from falling debris.
Earlier in November, the IDF stated that its offensive had significantly reduced Hezbollah’s combat capabilities and eliminated the group’s leadership.
On the night of November 22, Israeli forces struck Hezbollah weapons production facilities in Beirut.
