US President Donald Trump once again expressed his disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the American leader made this statement at the Saudi Arabia–US investment forum.
Trump once again stated that he has "ended" eight turbulent wars, with only one remaining — Russia’s war against Ukraine.
"I thought that was going to be my easy one because I have a good relationship with President Putin, but I'm a little disappointed in President Putin right now. He knows that. I thought that was going to be the easy one,” Trump added.
US-Russia peace plan
The American leader made this statement amid media rumors that US officials, together with Russian counterparts, have developed a peace plan to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The plan was presented to Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, by US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff.
According to the Financial Times, the plan envisions Ukraine ceding the Donbas to Russia, reducing the size of its army, and more.
The plan essentially reflects the Kremlin’s maximalist demands for peace with Ukraine.
At the same time, Western media reports that Ukrainian officials were not involved in drafting the plan — it was developed solely by Americans and Russians.
According to an RBC-Ukraine source, the US will attempt to pressure President Volodymyr Zelenskyy into accepting this proposal from Washington.
Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that peace processes have now intensified, but emphasized that it is important for them to lead to a dignified peace.
