Hungary rejects claims that its drones entered Ukraine

The Hungarian Ministry of Defense claims that Hungarian drones did not violate Ukraine’s airspace, contrary to what President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated today, Telex informs.
The Hungarian Ministry of Defense emphasized that "the statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that a Hungarian military drone was present on the territory of Ukraine does not correspond to reality."
"The Hungarian army neither carried out nor received orders for an alleged drone flight along the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, as reported by the media. We have also not received any information about such an incident from the Ukrainian side, even though we are in constant contact with them," the ministry said.
The country is conducting the NATO exercise Adaptive Hussars 2025, which will run until mid-October.
"Our NATO allies, as well as the Ukrainian side, are regularly informed about the exercise," the Hungarian Ministry of Defense added.
Hungarian drones entered Ukraine
Today, September 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Hungary may have used reconnaissance drones to monitor Ukraine’s defense industry. The incident with the drones was reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"Ukrainian forces recorded violations of our airspace by reconnaissance drones, which are likely Hungarian. Preliminary assessments suggest they may have been conducting reconnaissance on the industrial potential of Ukraine’s border areas," Zelenskyy said.
The president instructed that all data be verified and immediately reported on the recorded incidents.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó responded defiantly to Zelenskyy’s statement about Hungarian drones over Ukraine, saying the president was "seeing ghosts."
"President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is starting to go crazy over anti-Hungarian sentiment. Now he’s even seeing ghosts,” Szijjártó claimed.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that Szijjártó should refrain from making sharp remarks about Zelenskyy following the incident with Hungarian drones over Ukraine.
