Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó expressed outrage over Ukraine’s strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia’s Bryansk region, according to the official’s Facebook post.

According to him, Ukraine carried out a drone strike on an important distribution station, jeopardizing Hungary’s energy security.

He claimed that Budapest is currently Ukraine’s number one supplier, and without Hungary, Ukraine’s energy security would become highly unstable.

Given this, the minister expressed his dissatisfaction with Ukraine’s actions.

“In this context, Ukraine’s recent strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies crude oil to Hungary and plays a key role in our country’s energy security, is particularly outrageous,” Szijjártó wrote.

The politician also urged not to jeopardize Hungary’s energy supply security and to stop attacking energy supply routes to Hungary in a war that we, Hungarians, have nothing to do with.

What preceded this

On the night of August 13, Ukrainian kamikaze drones attacked an oil pumping station of the Transneft Druzhba oil pipeline in the city of Unecha, Bryansk region, Russia.

The operation was carried out by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate in cooperation with units of the Defense Forces.

Explosions were first heard in the Unecha area, followed by a massive fire. Emergency services rushed to the scene.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has repeatedly made controversial statements about Ukraine. One of them was his claim that Zelenskyy wants a puppet government in Hungary that would send money to Ukraine.

Recently, Szijjártó also thanked US President Donald Trump for lifting sanctions that hindered Russia’s Rosatom from building the Paks nuclear power plant in Hungary. The agreement for the construction of two reactor units at this plant was signed between Russia and Hungary back in 2014.
