Helicopter crashes in Russia: Owner of gold mining company was on board
A Robinson R66 helicopter went missing on Tuesday, September 17, in Russia’s Amur region. On board was the owner of the gold mining company LLC Khergu, TASS reports.
According to Russian media, the helicopter was carrying a pilot and two passengers: Mikael Arutyunyan, the owner of the gold mining company LLC Khergu, and his assistant Sheram Tovmasyan.
Official information indicates that the Robinson R66 was conducting a flight over the Zeya district when it suddenly disappeared from the radar and sent out an emergency signal. It was later reported that rescuers found the crash site of the Robinson helicopter in the Priamurye region.
LLC Khergu is one of the leading producers of placer precious metals in the Amur region. The helicopter itself belonged to the company.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on August 31, a Mi-8 helicopter went missing in Kamchatka, Russia. It belonged to the Vityaz-Aero company. The helicopter disappeared from radar after takeoff, and a search operation was initiated. There may have been 22 people on board—three crew members and 19 passengers.
On September 1, another helicopter crashed in the same region. Preliminary data suggests that the helicopter might have collided with a height in dense fog.
On August 15, a Tu-22M3 bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region of Russia. Russian authorities claimed that the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction.
