Hegseth’s plane sends distress signal and makes emergency return to UK: What happened

The Boeing C-32 aircraft carrying US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth declared an emergency over the Atlantic Ocean and turned back to the United Kingdom, according to a post by Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell on Twitter (X).
He said that Hegseth’s plane made an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom due to a crack in the aircraft’s windshield. The Boeing landed following standard procedures, and all passengers, including the US secretary, are safe.
According to Flight Radar data, the plane sent a 7700 code, indicating it was in distress. It descended to an altitude of three kilometers while flying over the Atlantic near the coast of Ireland and changed course toward the United Kingdom.
Later, the plane carrying Hegseth landed at the Royal Air Force base in Mildenhall, Suffolk.
The US Secretary of War’s plane had departed from Belgium, where he participated in the NATO summit today and met with Ukraine’s defense minister.
Today, October 15, Pete Hegseth promised Russia major consequences if it does not end the war in Ukraine. The US and NATO countries will take all "appropriate measures" to punish Russia for its aggression.
According to the American minister, European leaders are now sending a clear signal to the aggressor country that the Kremlin must stop the war in Ukraine.
