Head of Pentagon and British Defense Minister discussed options for supporting Ukraine
The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, and British Defense Minister, Grant Shapps, discussed joint further assistance to Ukraine during their meeting, according to the Pentagon press service.
"I look forward to discussing ways that we can continue to strengthen Ukraine's capability to defend its sovereign territory," said the U.S. Secretary of Defense.
According to Austin, the U.S. and the UK continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, demonstrating support in the face of a potential full-scale invasion by Russia into Ukraine.
Austin also stated that the alliance between the U.S. and the UK remains highly important, as both countries actively collaborate on addressing the crisis in Israel and Gaza and countering Houthi attacks on civilian vessels in the Red Sea.
The head of the Pentagon emphasized that the relations between the U.S. and the UK are stronger than ever.
