Sweden is ready to transfer Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine and provide resources for demining the Black Sea after a peace agreement with Russia is signed, according to a post by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on X.

According to Ulf Kristersson, the Paris meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, Ukraine, and the United States achieved significant progress in discussing pathways to peace.

"When a peace agreement is reached in Ukraine, Sweden stands ready to contribute to the security guarantees for Ukraine and the rest of Europe," the Swedish prime minister said.

Kristersson outlined specific areas of potential support:

  • The transfer of Gripen fighter jets to provide air surveillance over Ukraine;

  • Naval assets to support demining operations in the Black Sea;

  • The continued training of Ukrainian officers.

At the same time, he stressed that implementation depends on several conditions: the signing of a peace agreement, clear rules for the use of multinational forces, and approval by the Swedish parliament.

"Sweden is prepared to do our part for peace in Europe," he concluded.

Support for Ukraine

Previously, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever said Belgium is ready to contribute to post-war security for Ukraine, focusing on air and naval assets and training, as discussed in Paris.

Germany has also expressed readiness to support a potential ceasefire framework in Ukraine, while not committing to troop deployments. Progress on implementing and monitoring a ceasefire agreed in Paris will ultimately depend on Russia’s position, which has yet to confirm readiness to comply.
