Greek Prime Minister arrives in Odesa for meeting with Zelenskyy
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Ukraine for a few hours. He is scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Odesa, according to Newsit.
According to the media, the information has not yet been confirmed by the government. Later, the Greek Prime Minister will travel to Bucharest for the EPP conference.
The Greek Prime Minister's visit to Ukraine comes as Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls on the international community not to abandon his country and to strengthen it as much as possible to prevent Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's advance.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Athens last August, and during the two years of war, Greece has never stopped speaking out against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Greece's assistance to Ukraine
Last summer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Greece. During his visit, he said that Athens would train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets. The head of state also said that Ukraine was counting on Greek air defense in the Black Sea.
Later, it was reported that Greece was suspending funding for support and maintenance programs for Soviet-style air defense systems, as they could be transferred to Ukraine in the future.
It was also reported earlier that the United States is discussing with Greece the possibility of selling 75,000 artillery shells from the country's armed forces. The talks are part of Washington's efforts to replenish Ukraine's ammunition.
