Girl survives fall from ninth floor during missile strike on Kyiv

During the Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of July 31, a girl named Veronika was thrown from the ninth floor of a residential building and survived. She is currently in the hospital, according to TSN.
According to Veronika, she had fallen asleep in her room and woke up already on the ground after the explosion. The girl was likely thrown out by the blast wave along with her bed, which partially softened the fall.
"I was just thrown from the ninth floor. My leg is broken and a tooth came out. I was conscious. I was just sleepy and didn't understand what was happening. I heard the explosion — and a second later, I was on the ground," she said.
Veronika says she still cannot understand how she managed to survive such a fall. She assumes that the bed acted as a "safety cushion," which is why she only suffered a broken leg.
"Most likely, I was sitting on the bed and just fell along with it. That's why I didn't hit hard, because the bed is soft," she explained.
What happened to her family
Veronika currently does not know anything about the fate of her parents.
"I don't know what happened to my father, what happened to my mother. I don't know where they are or what's going on with them," the girl said.
