Representatives of the G7 countries responded to China's military exercises in the Taiwan Strait. The foreign ministers of the G7 states and the High Representative of the European Union issued a joint statement, according to the US State Department.

The press service of the US State Department released a joint statement from representatives of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US, as well as the High Representative of the EU, regarding China's military exercises around Taiwan.

The statement expresses deep concern over China's provocative actions, including the recent large-scale military exercises around Taiwan.

"These increasingly frequent and destabilizing activities are raising cross-Strait tensions and put at risk global security and prosperity," the G7 foreign ministers' statement says.

The joint statement also emphasizes that G7 members and the broader international community are committed to preserving peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

"We oppose any unilateral actions to threaten such peace and stability, including by force or coercion," the statement adds.

Additionally, G7 members reiterated their continued encouragement for a peaceful resolution of issues through constructive dialogue across the strait.

China's military exercises near Taiwan

As reported, China recently launched another round of military exercises around Taiwan, codenamed Strait Thunder-2025A. Official Beijing stated that these exercises are focused on refining the ability to block the island and to carry out precise strikes.

According to a senior colonel of the People’s Liberation Army of China, the military began exercises near Taiwan from several directions. The drills involve ground, naval, air, and missile forces.

Additionally, in March, China also conducted military exercises, which it called punishment for Taiwan. In response, Taipei declared Beijing as the violator of peace.

Recently, The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon is changing its military strategy and preparing for a possible conflict with China, with Taiwan becoming a key challenge for the US.
