G7 Ambassadors hold emergency talks with Ukraine after massive Russian attack

The Ambassadors of the G7 countries discussed the most urgent needs following Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure with Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Representatives of key Ukrainian energy companies also took part in the meeting: Naftogaz of Ukraine, Ukrenergo, and Energoatom.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss Russia's large-scale attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure, as well as support for Ukraine against further attacks, and to meet the most urgent needs.
Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities
With the onset of autumn, Russia launched a new wave of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The main targets were thermal power plants, thermal power stations, and other energy system facilities. The Chernihiv and Sumy regions were hit, causing massive power outages and the introduction of power cut schedules.
The situation was most severe in the Chernihiv region. In particular, the Russians struck Nizhyn and Pryluky, damaging infrastructure.
However, on the night of Friday, October 10, Ukraine suffered a massive Russian combined attack with various types of weapons. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia used over 450 drones and more than three dozen missiles that night. The Russian attack was directed against facilities that ensure the normal life of Ukrainians.
After the Russian attack, many areas of Kyiv are still without electricity, and transport has begun to run with changes.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko responded earlier today on when electricity and water will return to Kyiv.
