French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has commented on the US decision to halt military aid to Kyiv. He believes that the responsibility to support Ukraine now falls on Europe, The Guardian reports.

According to Barrot, the suspension of US assistance signals that Europe must now ensure Ukraine's ability to hold the front line against Russia.

"This frontline is the first line of defense for Europe and France," said the French Foreign Minister to members of Parliament.

He further emphasized that it is time for Europe to reduce its dependence on American weapons.

"We Europeans are now faced with a choice that is imposed on us: that of effort and freedom, or that of comfort and servitude,” he said.

US halts military aid to Ukraine

On March 4, the United States suspended military aid to Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that military equipment from the US has ceased arriving at the Polish hub.

According to Western media, the suspension includes ammunition, vehicles, and other equipment, including supplies that were previously agreed upon during US President Joe Biden's administration.

Prime Minister Tusk confirmed the cessation of US military aid to Ukraine. He noted that border reports from the Polish hub in Yasenkov align with the information from the White House’s decision.

On the same day, the French government expressed opposition to the suspension of military aid to Ukraine by the US. They stated that halting arms supplies would delay peace efforts, as it would only strengthen the position of Russia.
