The French government opposed the termination of US military aid to Kyiv. Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad said it would delay the peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine.

“Fundamentally, if you want peace, does a decision to suspend arms to Ukraine reinforce peace or does it make it more distant? It makes it more distant, because it only strengthens the hand of the aggressor on the ground, which is Russia,” Haddad said.

At the same time, Poland's Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk called the US move “bad news.”

Trump canceled aid to Ukraine

Bloomberg, citing a Pentagon source, wrote that US President Donald Trump has ordered a halt to all military aid to Ukraine. According to media reports, Trump ordered US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to pause the process.

According to the agency, this means all US military equipment that is not currently in Ukraine. In particular, the weapons that are on the way on airplanes and ships, or that are waiting to be shipped in transit zones in Poland.

Later, the White House confirmed that US President Donald Trump was suspending military aid to Ukraine after a spat with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The United States needs its partners, like the head of the White House, to be focused on peace.

In a commentary to RBC-Ukraine, Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Rada's Defense Committee, said that a negative scenario regarding the possible suspension of US military aid to Ukraine was considered at a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.
