Ukraine has already received the first batch of F-16 fighter jets as part of Western defense aid. The exact number is not specified at this time, according to a Twitter (X) post by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.

The minister noted that such support in the form of delivering these long-awaited aircraft to the Ukrainian side seemed impossible before.

"F-16s in Ukraine. Another impossible turned out to be totally possible," Landsbergis stated in his post.

Meanwhile, a US official told Reuters on the condition of anonymity that the delivery of the fighter jets has been completed.

The news agency adds that the Ukrainian Air Force did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.

Additionally, the Associated Press reported that the first F-16 fighter jets have already been received by Ukraine. The US news agency confirmed this information through a Ukrainian diplomat and an American official, both of whom spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to AP, citing a Ukrainian MP, Kyiv has received a small number of F-16 fighter jets.

However, it remains unclear how many jets have been provided to Ukraine in the first batch and from which countries.

It's important to note that the Ukrainian government has neither confirmed nor denied receiving these aircraft.

F-16s for Ukraine

Previously, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway committed to providing Ukraine with over 60 F-16 fighter jets.

In July, during a NATO summit, US President Joe Biden, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced that the process of delivering F-16s to Ukraine had begun.

On July 31, Bloomberg reported that a small number of F-16 jets had already been delivered to Ukraine. The Telegraph also reported that Ukraine had allegedly used F-16s for air defense purposes.

Additionally, the White House declined to comment on the information regarding the transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
