Explosion heard in Kharkiv: Drone strike recorded in Kyivskyi district
Late in the evening on December 20, at least one explosion was heard in Kharkiv. The military had warned of an enemy drone heading towards the city, according to own correspondent, the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force, and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
The explosion in the city was heard around 11:41 p.m. Kyiv time. Shortly before this, the Ukrainian Air Force had issued a warning about a drone heading towards Kharkiv.
"Attention! City of Kharkiv! Enemy strike drone heading towards your area from the north," the message stated.
A few minutes after the explosion, the Mayor of Kharkiv reported another strike. Several hours earlier, a drone had been detected approaching the city.
"Another strike in the Kyivskyi district. Fire at the impact site," he wrote at 11:47 p.m. Kyiv time.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, confirmed a drone strike in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. As of now, there have been no casualties.
"Another enemy drone strike in the Solonytsivska community of the Kharkiv district. There is a fire in a non-residential building. No casualties," he added.
Meanwhile, the military has issued a warning about another drone heading towards Kharkiv from the southwest.
"As a result of the enemy strike in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv, one person experienced an acute stress reaction," said Syniehubov.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the information about one person being injured as a result of the Shahed drone strike.
He clarified that people are still inside the private house where a fire broke out due to the strike.
"Relevant services are working at the site," he added.
"People from the burning house have been rescued. As of now, there are two injured," Terekhov reported.
Just over an hour ago, a Shahed drone strike was recorded on a multi-story building in Kharkiv. As clarified by the Regional Military Administration, the strike occurred in the Saltivskyi district of the city.
As a result of the attack, two floors were partially destroyed, and a fire broke out. By this time, the fire has been extinguished, and six people are known to have been injured.
