The Head of the White House, Donald Trump, has a different attitude toward President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. He "fears" the latter, Ukrainian historian and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi says in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.

"You just need to understand that Trump is afraid of Putin. And that's why, regarding Ukraine and President Zelenskyy, he says one thing, while regarding the Moscow Führer, he says another," the Ukrainian expert said.

Bezsmertnyi provided an example, comparing Trump's statements about Iran and Russia. According to him, the Republican threatened Iran with bombings if it refused to sign a nuclear program agreement. Meanwhile, when speaking about Russia, he only threatened to impose tariffs on its oil imports. The expert emphasized that in 2024, the US did not purchase any Russian oil at all, in 2023, the volume amounted to 5,000 barrels, and in 2022 - 10,000 barrels.

"This is Trump 'roaring,' this is him 'hitting hard' with tariffs on trade between Russia and the US. That's all the threats, all his anger," the Ukrainian diplomat noted.

Trump's threats to Putin

Yesterday, on March 31, Trump stated that, in his opinion, Putin would not refuse to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. In particular, the US President added that there is a psychological deadline when the full-scale war should reach a ceasefire.

Recently, Trump also claimed that he is "angry" and "pissed off" with Russian President Vladimir Putin over statements about Zelenskyy's alleged illegitimacy. Trump then threatened to impose sanctions on Russian oil ranging from 25 to 50 percent.
