Even Hamas shows readiness for talks, but not Putin, says Zelenskyy

Even Hamas is showing readiness to negotiate with Israel over the Gaza Strip, while Russian leader Vladimir Putin still refuses to start dialogue on ending the war against Ukraine, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.
Zelenskyy noted that the more effective Ukraine is in long-range capabilities, the faster it can achieve peace.
"And unlike Russia, we know what we want to achieve. Undoubtedly, peace. We are not waging war for the sake of war, as Russia does. Even Hamas is already showing willingness to negotiate, but not Putin. At least for now," the President emphasized.
According to him, Ukraine, together with its partners, is creating conditions to force Russia to make peace, and this will be achieved.
"We support all global diplomatic efforts for peace in the Middle East and strongly hope that fair pressure on Russia will lead to peace for Ukraine and our entire region. It is important that US leadership continues to work," Zelenskyy added.
Gaza agreement
Recently, US President Donald Trump proposed a 20-point plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The plan calls for the creation of an international Peace Council to oversee a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee responsible for the daily administration of Gaza. The council would be headed by Trump himself and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
On October 6, indirect talks began in Egypt between Israel and Hamas, with Egypt, the US, and Qatar serving as mediators.
On October 9, President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of the American peace plan.
According to the US leader, Hamas has effectively agreed to release all hostages, while Israel will withdraw its soldiers to an agreed line.
Trump also stated that Hamas militants are expected to free all hostages in the first half of next week, while a final agreement on Gaza is planned to be signed in Egypt.
