The European Parliament will consider a €90 billion loan for Ukraine on Wednesday, February 11, said European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, according to Politico.

Metsola did not provide further details.
Meanwhile, European Parliament spokesperson Delphine Colard said that an agreement has already been reached among the main political groups. Earlier, the idea to speed up the voting process was supported by:
-
the center-right European People’s Party;
-
the center-left Socialists and Democrats;
-
the liberal Renew Europe faction.
Support from these groups ensures the necessary number of votes for the decision to be adopted. This will allow the European Commission to raise funds on international markets under guarantees from the EU’s long-term budget.
Why it matters
The rush to vote is driven by a critical situation: without this loan, Ukraine risked running out of funds as early as April. Such a financial gap would be catastrophic for the country’s military efforts amid ongoing US-mediated peace talks.
Previously, the vote was scheduled for February 24, the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion, but it will now take place during the upcoming plenary session on Wednesday.
Loan for Ukraine
Earlier, EU Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis said that the first tranche of the €90 billion loan package could reach Ukraine as early as early April.
The financial aid package is planned for 2026–2027.
