European intelligence on possibility of Russian attack on Europe
In one of the European intelligence reports, there is speculation that the Russian Federation may launch an attack on Europe in the winter of 2024-2025, according to Bild.
According to the publication, intelligence services believe that Russia may launch an attack on Europe precisely at a time when the United States finds itself "leaderless," and assistance to European states may be delayed until after a certain period.
This concerns the period between the departure of the current U.S. president in early November 2024 and the inauguration of his potential successor in January 2025.
An intelligence official claims that the Russian government hopes that former President Donald Trump will return to the White House, as during his tenure, "anything could happen."
Earlier this month, the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, Carsten Breuer, emphasized the need to address shortcomings in the preparation of the German Armed Forces for the defense of the country and NATO.
Breuer stated that he sees deficiencies in the modernization of the German armed forces for national and alliance defense.
He also noted that the times preceding the massive Russian invasion of Ukraine will not return, and Germany will have to come to terms with the idea that one day they might have to wage a defensive war themselves.
At the same time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Germany would support Ukraine in the war if others weakened.
