European officials believe that the escalation of Russian strikes on Kyiv may be linked not only to the military situation but also to an attempt to influence the course of potential future negotiations, according to The Washington Post.

In Europe, there is a view that the growing intensity of Russian attacks on Kyiv may have not only a military but also a political explanation, according to European officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In their assessment, the increase in strikes may reflect Russia’s growing difficulties in both the military and economic spheres. Against this backdrop, it is not ruled out that Moscow may be trying to influence the prospects for resuming negotiations, which remain deadlocked.

The EU suggests that such escalation could be part of a pressure strategy aimed at securing a future deal on terms more favorable to the Russian side.

Ukrainian intelligence has obtained data on possible targets of future Russian strikes, which may be linked to the defense industry.

It is also assessed that Russian forces may continue attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and even increase their intensity. Experts are considering several possible scenarios for future strikes that the Russian army may carry out in the near future.

On the night of June 2, Russia carried out a large-scale combined strike on Ukraine using various types of weapons. As a result of the attack, several cities came under fire, infrastructure was damaged, facilities were hit, and there were civilian casualties.
