European countries have opposed the new US peace plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine, which is likely to require Kyiv to cede more territory and partially disarm, Reuters reports.
European Union foreign ministers, who met today in Brussels, did not comment in detail on the US “peace plan,” which has not yet been made public.
At the same time, they made it clear that they would not accept demands on Ukraine that involve territorial concessions.
"Ukrainians want peace - a just peace that respects everyone's sovereignty, a durable peace that can't be called into question by future aggression. But peace cannot be a capitulation," says French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
US peace plan for Ukraine
Current and former American and Russian officials have prepared a peace plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine. It consists of 28 points.
However, the plan provides for the fulfillment of the Kremlin's maximalist demands, specifically, Ukraine's renunciation of part of its territory and certain types of weapons, and a reduction in the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, Western media reported that the proposals were developed without Ukraine's participation. They plan to present Ukraine with a fait accompli - the initiative is to be presented in Kyiv by an American delegation on November 20.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the development of the peace plan.
Today, the media reports that US President Donald Trump has already approved the peace plan for Ukraine.
At the same time, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said that any plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine requires the involvement of Ukrainians and Europeans.
