After drone incursions, Denmark said Europe is already in a hybrid war, and Russia is the main threat, according to Politico.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that Europe is in a state of hybrid warfare. The statement follows mass drone incidents that forced temporary airport closures and disrupted air travel.

These airspace violations show that "we are at the beginning of a hybrid war against Europe," Frederiksen said in a national address.

She emphasized that such incidents do not happen by accident.

"We see the pattern, and it does not look good," Frederiksen added.

According to the Danish Prime Minister, there is no official confirmation of "who is behind the hybrid attacks", but she pointed directly to the Kremlin.

"We can at least state that there is primarily one country that poses a threat to Europe's security — and that is Russia," the Prime Minister said.

Denmark raises alert level amid drone threats

Danish authorities have increased the alert level and are strengthening their drone defense systems. The army and police will soon step up the use of anti-drone measures to protect critical infrastructure.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also noted that Denmark is receiving support from Ukraine, which is sharing its experience in countering drone attacks.

Historic defense purchase

Earlier this month, Denmark’s Ministry of Defense announced the acquisition of the Franco-Italian SAMP/T air defense system worth 58 billion Danish kroner (€7.7 billion), the largest defense purchase in the country’s history.

The Aalborg airport in Denmark was temporarily closed on the evening of September 25 after unidentified drones were spotted in the airspace. This was the third recent incident in which drones disrupted operations at Aalborg airport.

For the first time, mysterious drones had blocked Copenhagen and Oslo airports for several hours on the night of September 22.

On September 23, Oslo’s Gardermoen airport was also shut down after several drones were detected.
